Workplace Psychological Injury & WorkCover Counselling

"I don't know how it got this bad. I just kept going until I couldn't."

For many people, the impact of work on mental health builds slowly — through chronic pressure, impossible expectations, bullying, emotional exhaustion, or a workplace environment that quietly erodes wellbeing over months or years.

For others, it arrives suddenly following a specific incident, a traumatic event, or a moment when the body simply stops cooperating.

Either way, what you're experiencing is real. And it makes sense that you need support.

I am a registered WorkSafe provider offering counselling for adults experiencing work-related psychological distress in Melbourne and via telehealth across Victoria. Eligible clients may be able to access sessions through their WorkSafe or WorkCover claim.

Is this for you?

You might be dealing with any of the following

  • Workplace stress and burnout
  • Workplace bullying or conflict
  • Psychological injury claim
  • Trauma following a workplace incident
  • Emotional exhaustion and overwhelm
  • Anxiety or dread connected to work
  • Shame, loss of confidence or identity
  • Adjustment to time away from work
  • Return-to-work stress and uncertainty
  • Moral injury or values misalignment
  • Vicarious trauma in caring roles
  • Toxic or unsafe workplace environments
  • Psychosocial hazards at work
  • Stress leave and what comes after
  • Chronic stress in high-pressure environments
  • Nervous system dysregulation from work

You don't need to have a formal claim to enquire. If you're unsure whether you're eligible, get in touch and we can work it out together.

The approach

Not a CBT factory. Something more human.

A lot of people coming through WorkSafe have already sat through rushed sessions that felt generic, clinical, or disconnected from what they were actually going through. That's not what this is.

My work is relational, trauma-aware, and psychologically informed. I work with the whole person — not just the presenting symptoms. That means making space for the complexity of what's happened, what it's meant for your sense of self, and what sustainable recovery actually looks like for you.

🧠

Nervous system informed

Understanding how chronic stress and trauma affect the body and mind — not just behaviour.

🤝

Relational

The therapeutic relationship is the work. Not a technique applied to a problem.

⚖️

Depth and practicality

Insight matters. So does being able to function. We work on both.

Sessions can help you stabilise and regulate, process difficult or traumatic workplace experiences, rebuild confidence and self-trust, make sense of burnout and what led to it, navigate complex workplace relationships and communication, and reconnect with values, identity and direction.

Getting started

How WorkSafe counselling works

Get a referral from your GP

Counselling under WorkSafe is a referred service. Your GP will need to include this in your treatment plan. Let them know you'd like to see a WorkSafe registered counsellor.

Have your claim details ready (if available)

Your WorkSafe claim number and agent details help with the paperwork — but don't let uncertainty about these stop you from reaching out. We can sort the details together.

Make contact

Send an enquiry or use the referral form below. I'll be in touch within [X] business days to discuss availability and next steps.

Begin

Sessions are available in person in Melbourne or via telehealth across Victoria — whichever works best for where you're at.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral to access WorkSafe counselling?

Yes — counselling under WorkSafe Victoria is a referred service, which means you'll need a referral from your GP or treating medical practitioner. If you're unsure how to get one, your GP can guide you through the process.

What if my WorkSafe claim hasn't been approved yet?

You may still be able to access support under provisional payments while your claim is being assessed. It's worth asking your GP or WorkSafe agent about this. You're also welcome to contact me to discuss your situation.

Can I access WorkSafe counselling via telehealth?

Yes. Telehealth sessions are available across Victoria and can be especially practical if you're dealing with fatigue, overwhelm, or simply can't get to a physical location. Many clients on leave from work find this works well for them.

What is a psychological injury under WorkSafe?

A psychological injury is a mental health condition caused or significantly contributed to by work. This can include burnout, anxiety, depression, PTSD, adjustment disorder, or other conditions arising from workplace stress, trauma, bullying, or psychosocial hazards. You don't need a formal diagnosis to enquire.

What if I'm not sure whether I qualify?

Get in touch. I'm happy to have a brief conversation about your situation and help point you in the right direction — whether that's WorkSafe, another funding pathway, or private sessions.

Do you work with people in high-pressure or caring professions?

Yes — this is an area of particular interest. I have experience with burnout, vicarious trauma, and the specific pressures that come with emotionally demanding roles in healthcare, education, emergency services, and social work.

Can I choose my own counsellor under WorkSafe?

In many cases, yes. Injured workers can generally choose their own treating health provider, as long as that provider is registered with WorkSafe Victoria. You are not required to use a provider your employer or insurer suggests.
