About Bel Fin (MCouns&Psyc, PGradDipCouns, B.SocSci)

Hi, I’m Bel, a counsellor and psychotherapist who is primarily interested in relationships - to others, to Self and to Life.

My work is shaped by advanced training in trauma recovery, neurobiology, couples work, perinatal mental health, men’s counselling, and somatic practices.

My approach is relational, experiential (more than cognitive) and trauma-informed. I use neurobiology, attachment-oriented and and a lifetime quest for knowledge, wisdom & inner peace. I bring deep compassion and curiosity to your whole being — not just the mind, but to the emotions, to the body and to the spirit. My clients describe me as friendly, open-minded, intelligent and deeply attuned. I bring a steady presence, a good sense of humour, and a warm welcome to all regardless of how they identify. I have particular interests in existential and somatic psychotherapy interpersonal neurobiology and in Family Systems Theory and Attachment Theory.

Clients often come to me during times of major life transitions, healing from past wounds or current relationship issues, or seeking greater clarity and purpose in life. Sometimes they are just ready to change. Psychotherapy is about deep personality change.

I didn’t come to this work by accident. My path has been winding — full of contrasts. I’ve lived an unusual life and walked in many worlds, across cultures, subcultures, and class structures, from cities to the outback. I experience life’s harshness and had to deal with existential issues since childhood. I’ve spent my life observing and learning deeply from people and places. Those lessons live in my work every day. This has profoundly shaped my ability to connect with people of all ages and walks of life, an ability to take perspective beyond conventions and a deep interest in Existentialism…meaningfulness.

I have deep respect for the resilience and adaptability of the human spirit. I believe in the power of relationship, healing, and meaningful transformation. I have special interests in interrupting intergenerational trauma, neurodiversity as evolutionary, and my current hyperfocus is Personology (Trait Psychology). Outside of the clinical space, I am a parent and a multidisciplinary creative. I am a lifelong learner and a lover of the arts, animals and the natural world.
